Congratulations to Janet and William for meeting the criteria to become our 7th Red Kite Wildlife Warriors.

Ranger RK asessed their property to see if they were showing their commitment towards supporting the natural world.

” Janet and William  are clearly passionate about their garden, their paradise.  However, their outdoor space is not just for show. They have lovingly built a sanctuary not just for themselves but for  the wildlife that also call it their home. They have facilities for wildlife to sleep, nest, shelter, wash and feed. A careful selection of plants, trees and shrubs  provide a natural habit but the wildlife is also supported with nest boxes, feeding stations and bird baths. They are clearly committing their time to supporting the natural world.”

Janet and William embrace natural resources, using Willow to shore up a beck side bank, collect rainwater for use around the garden and produce their own compost.

They provide a selection of sites for harbourage and nesting, combining natural and man made facilities.

Ranger RK was satisfied that they met all the criteria and therefore awarded our seventh RED KITE WILDLIFE WARRIOR AWARD.

“After a lot of thought and pondering we both think our outlook on wildlife and nature is encapsulated in the image below. Sewn by an aunt in 1926 and given to Janet some years ago.”
