‘I have known Chris for a number of years now and have watched how her interest in the wildlife in her garden has grown. Her plants were for aesthetic purposes and she enjoyed her tidy garden. As her flora attracted moths and caterpillars and other insects, she began to learn more about them. Their names, their life cycles and their prefered host plants. As her interest grew, so did her enthusiasm. She began buying plants and food specifically to house and host the new inhabitants. Build it and they will come. She now not only shares her garden with the other living things that call it home, but her enjoyment and understanding has flourished. Her garden is open for business’

Ranger CR visited Chris and reviewed her commitment to the wildlife that are enjoying all the effort and hard work that she is pouring into it.

He was satisfied that she met all the criteria and was awarded our first RED KITE WILDLIFE WARRIOR AWARD.

“My small garden is a source of great pleasure. It started as a place to grow colourful flowers and plants but, as lovely as they are, it’s the wildlife that has proved to be far more interesting. I’m amazed at the variety of creatures that I can find just by simply keeping my eyes open, watching carefully and not being too tidy. It’s fascinating to find out more about their life cycles and to grow plants that attract them. I would recommend anyone with a garden to look beyond the obvious and I’ll guarantee you’ll be amazed at what you see.”
