Nature Poetry Competition

AUTUMN 2025

In Autumn we called upon 3 local Primary Schools to challenge their children to write a Nature Poem. We wanted them to get outside,  observe the world around them, and talk about what  they could see and how they feel about it.

The children came out in force to express their love of the season.

The tough decision to choose the winners fell upon the shoulders of three volunteers from Lowdam Library in the comfort of Thyme Cafe .

Once the winners were selected,  each school was presented with their awards.

The successful children each recieved a certificate (designed by CPM), and a star badge. The Overall winners also recieved a ‘School Poet’ badge and a gift card for Argos.  Each School was then presented with a Poetry book ‘Outside In’ written by Daniel Thompson.

Thank you and well done to the pupils and staff of Willow Farm Primary,  Lowdam C of E Primary and Gunthorpe Primary for taking part.

We are hoping to run 2 more competitions over the school year with the intention of building an Anthology to inspire local children to spend more time loving Nature through the seasons.  This will be available at Lowdam Library.
