Redavons and Ravenshead C of E Primary

A special thanks to Emma Johnson, Head Teacher of Ravenshead C of E Primary School. This week we had the pleasure of a tour of the school’s 2 acre woodland, which the children use for a range of outside learning activities including orienteering.

The woodland has an interesting mix of native hardwood trees and is an excellent oasis in the heart of the village. We discussed how by working collaboratively with the school, more wildlife can be encouraged and supported by this important habit. The school is hoping to involve the local community to develop corridors and improve connectivity for wildlife in the area and the possibility of neighbouring gardens achieving a Red Kite status. The school also have plans to encourage the children to have an active role in promoting nature in the woodland and in turn their local area. We’re looking forward to returning to the school in the new year to see the progress they have made.

We’re sure new GOLDCREST RANGER AWARD certificates will be presented by the end of the Summer Term.

We will keep you up to date about the woodland and the school’s progress in 2025.
