Redavons Rangers aim to manage the reserves to promote biodiversity. We encourage a rich and varied array of trees and ground cover to support as many different native species as possible. We value all living things be them common or rare.
We are always grateful that our local moth surveyor attends our sites to sample the moths who are passing through our woodland. This gives us an indication of the health of our sites.
We will shortly be adding a new page to our website showcasing the moths that have been observed by Paul from the traps that he had set up. Please be reassured that all Moths are released in time for them to find safety before the morning.
We do have exciting news.
Introducing a beautiful woodland lacewing Drepanepteryx phalaeoides
He tells us that they are predators as adults and larvae (smaller invertebrates) though there are reports of them feeding on honeydew.

Paul logged the find with the National Neuroptera Recording Scheme and has confirmed that this find is a first for Nottinghamshire. This is not necessarily the only specimen, just the first that has been seen and identified.
We will continue to manage our reserves with our philosophy
