Community planting in Lambley.
Lambley has a long history of wild Cowslips and continues to celebrate Cowslip Sunday. To honour the occasion, Lambley Primary Eco Group were set a challenge by the Redavons Rangers, to nurture 120 Cowslip plugs. To achieve a Goldcrest Ranger Award, the children have to make a positive contribution to nature in their local area. Thanks to the enthusiasm of Mrs Hibberts from Lambley Primary, the project is well underway.

They have grown very well indeed and some have now been planted around the school by the Eco Group. With a special thanks to Claire, some parents and children teamed up with members of the Reed Pond group with permission from the Parish council. The children represented their group admirably and despite the weather 48 of their Cowslips can flourish and spread for generations to come at the Reed Pond. Thanks to the Reed Pond members for preparing the site and taking part in the planting

They have also donated and planted their plants in the churchyard at Holy Trinity Church with special thanks to Frances Newsham.

This is a wonderful example of the community working together and an opportunity for the children to take responsibility in helping support nature close to home. We are looking forward to congratulating the children involved and rewarding them by presenting them with their Goldcrest Ranger Award certificates and pin badges.
